Podcast Project Homework
Intro to Environmental Issues-
Course description: “An introduction to environmental challenges and opportunities which emphasizes that humans are part of ecosystems within interdependent cycles which involve other organisms, air, water, chemicals, and energy. The course examines the relationships of humans to their environment from historical, economic, scientific, aesthetic, and ethical perspectives.”
My Description: This course helps educate and show some of the climate problems happening today and events that have happened in the past. It also teaches how we are all a part of the universe and how everything is connected.
Project: The project I am choosing is called the “Research, Create, Teach (RCT) Assignment”. A team of 4 people had to research a climate change factor and create a presentation explaining it in detail and what was happening. I think I learned how to work better with a team and understand how to communicate better with people I don’t normally work with. I also learned a little about presenting like keeping eye contact with the audience and making sure my voice is projecting well. I also learned a little about climate change and deforestation so I liked that as well.
Intro to Communications-
Course Description: “Introduction to Communications offers a survey of everyday as well as formal communication principles and contexts. Topics include the history of communication as an academic discipline, communication as identity and relationship construction, nonverbal communication and listening, communication media and technology, and communication in a variety of interpersonal, familial, group, and workplace settings”
My Description: This course teaches you how communications are used in everyday life while also going back and looking at a little bit of the history of communications. It goes very in depth with how we go through life not even realizing when and how we’re communicating.
Project: The project I am choosing is the “Lone Wolf Project”. This project was a public speech on how you could better yourself academically. You had to go up and present your speech for 5 minutes and then you were done. I think I learned a lot from this project. It was my first ever real speech and I learned how to stay relaxed and calm while having an audience stare at you. I also learned about good public speaking techniques. Always keep good eye contact, do not rush, take deep breaths in between sentences, and make sure you are projecting your words well.
