Project #3
For the rest of this project I am going to communicate with my fellow classmates and come up with interview questions that help analyze and get information out of an interviewee. The main point of an interview is to exchange information with a person and see if they have the right tools to perform efficiently at a job. I am hoping my team is able to come together and think of questions that will help thin out our possible candidates. I will also be reviewing and checking if there should be anything changed on the Job Description. This will hopefully help by having another person giving their input and ideas on something. I think the more the team works together the better result we will have at the end. Going back to the interview questions, I want the questions to not be ordinary. I want the questions to have the candidate really think about their answer. I want to know how the person thinks when it comes to problem solving. I think that there are certain questions you can ask someone and their answer will tell you a lot about themselves. I am very excited to see how well my team and I will be able to produce a professional interview.
3 Questions:
- Are there any changes you would like to see to the handbook/ Would you like me to review it before publishing?
- How will you advertise the handbook? For example, will you hand them to first year students when they arrive or do they have to go somewhere to get one?
- What do you think is the best way to get your handbook into student hands?
3 Big Moments:
- Last year I worked at a country club near my house in pennsylvania. I was a cart boy so I was in charge of bringing the carts to the members as well as cleaning their clubs when they asked, cleaning and refueling the carts, cleaning and stocking the range, along with closing the course after dark. With this job, I dealt a lot with people and learned how to interact on a pretty personal level. I really got to know regulars and built strong relationships with them. I think having this in my background will really help with talking to people and building relationships with customers.
- My sophomore year of high school I worked at a machine rental company. We would go out and deliver big skid loaders or little lawn mowers. We also did our fair share of putting up party tents as well. I can clearly remember one day, I was approached by a customer who was clearly very upset. When he approached me I asked what was wrong. He already had a raised tone and was yelling that one of the machines we gave him was not working. I personally had no idea what to do in the situation so I called my manager over and he got it all worked out. I think having this happen and having a customer react in such a manner is a very good teaching lesson on how to handle certain situations.
- I will be graduating in 2026 and I think with majoring in communications for four years, it will really help me in the real world. I will have a better understanding than most when it comes to dealing with delicate situations and how to talk to certain people. I will be able to learn and adapt quickly to changing situations and environments. I think this will make me a very good candidate for a job in the near future.
3 Questions during an Interview:
- If you were thrown into a situation or job that you had no idea how to handle, what would you do and how would you react?
- What are your prior job experiences and how did they go?
- If a customer is in need of help or confused with something, how will you be able to help and assist them with their problems?
Questioning the Sample Job:
- How available will you be during the first opening weeks of school?
- What will you be able to provide and help assist with those first few weeks?
- Do you still see yourself with us after 5 years?

Reflection:
I really enjoyed this project, but at some points I did not really have fun doing it. It was a good way to introduce and teach how a good professional interview should go. The first interview caught me very off guard. When I went to class that day I had no idea that we would be doing interviews at all. We were all sitting around working on our interview questions when all of a sudden we had to pick a partner out of our group to be interviewed. I was picked out of my group and it was pretty nerve racking. I had to be interviewed in front of the whole class, but the worst part was I had no idea how to answer the questions. It was a job that I had no idea or any prior knowledge for. I stumbled on a lot but I did get through it with some decent answers. The next class we had to be interviewed again but I also did not know that. I thought it was just one interview and then you were done. Instead I had to be interviewed again, this time it was with just one group which was a lot better. I also knew a little bit more about the job position and how to answer the questions. I still was not very happy that I had to be interviewed again, but this time around it went much better. I also really enjoyed being the interviewer. It gave me a different point of view to an interview and how the other side of it works. It was fun working as a team trying to come up with good questions that would help us read people and figure out what their strengths and weaknesses are. I think this project will definitely help me later on in life when I am interviewed because I had an inside look at everything that happens during an interview.
